Technology in the Classroom

So far in my Education 2256 class, Teaching With Technology I have broadened my knowledge of the use and application of various software that will assist me as a future teacher.
I have found technology to be a valuable, time-saving, and efficient way to present information in the classroom.  PowerPoint and Prezi are great mediums for presentation depending on the purpose of ones lesson.
Expanding my knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel has been greatly beneficial and I found that I can accomplish so much more on these programs that I was able to do before.
How could I expect my students to use and have a knowledge of Microsoft if I am not able to answer their questions and assist them with ease.
Technology alone is not sufficient to help me become a teacher, it is just one medium of communication.  You have to have a skill for organizing, communicating, and presenting.  There are many other things that create a successful teacher and technology is a  valuable part, though it does have some draw backs.
Its seems that as a student I am always looking at a SCREEN!
I appreciate the time in my life when I am not looking at a computer, TV, phone, for emails, tutorials, writing essays, researching etc.
Sometimes I am experiencing a degraded sense of life and what is happening around me because I am asked to tune into a sceen so often in my life.
As a future teacher I would be concerned about how much the children would be watching screens in their leisure time, and how much I am asking them in the classroom or for homework.  I realize we live in a society where these skills are essential,
but I do wonder how much more can I take, how much more can the children take, is it safe to let them experience this much technology when they are so young, and how much more will we all be asked to watch.
